After winning the second-largest Powerball jackpot in New York Lottery history, ex trucker David Johnson, 56 will soon embark on the shopping trip of a life time... to buy the red Porsche he's always wanted.
In the Powerball drawing on December 26th 2018, David won the $298.3 million jackpot, he has since opted to take the single lump sum payment of $180,227,550 which equals $114,091,248 after taxes.
The new multi-millionaire paid just $5 for the winning ticket which he purchased from Arnold's Service Station on Linden Boulevard, across the street from the headquarters of where he worked as a truck driver before the big win.
Little did he know he was about to become the third consecutive New Yorker to become a Powerball jackpot winner!
David collected his big cheque on Friday at Resorts World Casino in Queens where he spoke to the media.
"A friend of mine, a next driver for the company, called me and said 'Hey Dave! Somebody won the Powerball by the gas station,'" Johnson said. "I turned to myself I said, 'Aw that's not me man, that's not my luck.'"
"I went to the store and gave the ticket to the clerk to check. He scanned it and said 'Congratulations,' I needed to see it for myself, so I scanned and saw it read BIG WINNER."
David is planning to truly relax into the millionaire lifestyle. He has quit his job as a truck driver, he has plans to take care of his family and can't wait to buy the red Porsche he's always wanted.
"So everyone can see me when I drive on the street." He said.
